The e-commerce website Amazon said on Saturday that it was changing its seller fees. It gave three reasons for the change: inflation, interest rates, and industry-standard pricing structures.
Changes will be implemented by Amazon.in on April 7th in a number of charge categories, such as closing fees, weight handling fees, and referral fees.
The corporation claims that these changes are intended to maintain industry charge patterns while balancing macroeconomic concerns like inflation and operating costs.
Notably, the e-commerce company stated, referral fees will rise in some categories like laptop accessories and business supplies and fall in others like clothing.
The closing fee for sales with an average price beyond Rs 1,000 has been raised by Rs 3.
According to the statement, the weight handling fee has increased by Rs 2 to reflect the inflationary rise in shipping expenses.
Pick and pack and technology costs are the other charge heads.
With the removal of the Zero Fee Fulfillment policy, standard-sized shipments costing more than Rs 20,000 will now be subject to a weight handling shipping fee as of April 30, 2024.
Amazon said that it will add 18% GST (goods and services tax) to all of the specified fee categories.
