India's NSE halves lot size For Nifty 50
As part of its quarterly adjustment, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India announced on Tuesday that it had cut the lot sizes for two other indices and halved the lot size for trading derivatives contracts for the blue-chip Nifty 50 index to 25.
The action is being taken at a time when investor interest in trading derivatives has grown and Indian benchmark indexes are setting new records.
The market lot for the Nifty financial services index NIFTYFIN was lowered by the exchange operator to 25 from 40, and the lot size for trading the Nifty midcap select index NSEBANK was maintained at 50 from 75.
According to a circular from the NSE that opens a new tab, the first weekly expiry contract with the revised lot size will expire on May 2, and the first monthly expiry contract with the revised lot size will expire on May 30 for the Nifty 50 index.
In its weekly assessment, the exchange operator changed the lot sizes for a few large-cap and mid-cap equities last week.
